SZENTIMRE CAMPS

WHO ARE WE?
What we all have in common is that the Szentimre Camps were not the first experience of working with children for any of us: the team includes a teacher, psychologists working with kindergarten children and scout leaders, among others.
We all love Szentimre very much: even those who have no family ties or childhood memories from here have become honorary citizens of the village during the camps. We are good friends outside the camps too, thanks in large part to our shared experiences from Szentimre. Some of us introduce ourselves below...

Dávid Scheffler
He lives in Germany, working as a video postproducer, freelance filmmaker and director of children's film courses. The bilingually raised son of a Hungarian mother from Marosváráshely (Târgu Mureș, Romania), he has a strong connection to Szentimre, the birthplace of his grandfather József Csiszér.
Despite the distance, it is yet another home for him.

Borcsa Lőrincz
Sociologist, researcher of education.
She started working with children living in deep poverty ten years ago.
It happened sometime in the early 1990s that she became a Szentimre kid through her adopted grandfather, József Csiszér, who always ended his tales of the cunning fox with the line: "If you don't believe this,
come to Szentimre!"

Noémi Losonci
Kindergarten teacher. She is currently practising her profession in Bucharest, but has also gained experience in several village kindergartens in recent years. Born and raised in Szentimre, she has been involved in the camp works from the very beginning. In her spare time, she collects herbs, organises children and youth events and runs the zither group she founded in 2019 in her home village.

Carolina Sanchez
In the academic year 2019-2020, she was a volunteer in Transylvania; that's where she met Borcsa. She fell in love with the landscape and the people here. Currently she is working
for an organization promoting children's rights in her hometown, Madrid.

Aliz Ittzés
She started working with kids as a high school student. In the past years she has gained experience in the fields of hospitality and child protection. Currently, she is looking for her way back to her original profession as a psychologist. Nyárádszentimre was a significant location in her childhood,
where she was delighted to return for the camps.

Áron Szilveszter
He is a psychologist in kindergartens in Budapest and has been working for many years with disadvantaged children and families. He is passionate about volunteering and the right of children to memorable experiences and a meaningful leisure time. He always feels at home in Szentimre, for which he is very grateful to the community of the village.

Ambrus Ittzés
He is graduating with a BA degree from the Faculty of Humanities at
Eötvös Loránd University this year.
He is also working in catering and
as a volunteer coordinator for
various projects. Nyárádszentimre has been very special to him since his childhood. He was still a young boy in 2013 when he made a documentary about life in the village.

Janka Prőhle
She is going to obtain her Sociology BA degree soon, and she is an active member of the College of Architecture Students. She used to volunteer with disadvantaged children, and she also learnt a lot as an apprentice of theatre pedagogy in a German theatre. She has participated in the Szentimre camps since the beginning. This year she is the most excited about the new activities and the campfire.

Miklós Ittzés
He is a university student of Sociology. He has been working with children since his teenage years; among other activities he used to be a scout leader. Since his childhood, Szentimre has been the scene of important experiences in his life: he grew into a camp volunteer from travelling on grain trailers and herding cows
in the village.

Klára Ittzés
She is graduating from high school this year, preparing to become a teacher. She has been a scout for ten years; she is a unit leader. She has also volunteered at church events and
as a tutor. The last time she visited Szentimre she was still a child,
but she is very excited to return
for the camp in 2023.

Anita Szabó
A resident of Szentimre, a participant at the beginning of the camps, now an organiser. She is close to finishing high school and wants to become a doctor. She loves children and has not grown out of mischief. In her free time she likes to read and dance.

Péter Kovács
He is an enthusiastic high school student who is eager to take on challenges. As a native of the "city" of Nyárádszentimre, he actively seeks to help where he can. In addition to his studies in folk music, he is working hard to make his environment
a better place.
